  • Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer such as Pennington Lawn Starter Fertilizer* a week prior to planting. Provide with sufficient amounts of water so as not to burn the young seedlings.
  • Fertilize late spring with a slow-release high nitrogen fertilizer such as Pennington Lawn Food* which has a N-P-K (link to Fertilizer Basics) of 27-4-6 for a nice healthy green summer lawn.
  • A controlled-Release Fertilizer applied in the fall such as Pennington Lawn Food* or Winterizer* will gradually continue feeding your lawn for up to 4 months.

(Note: Always water in your fertilizer to prevent burning.)

  • Most lawns require several feedings per year:
    Warm Season Grasses:
    • After Green Up
    • Summer
    • Winterizer Fertilizer In Fall

    Cool Season Grasses:
    • Early to Late Spring
    • Late Fall
